The Walker Art Gallery is a great place to go if you have budding artists on your hands.
The children's gallery - Big Art for Little Artists - is for aged eight and under and has been designed to introduce children to art.
There is always something going on especially during school holidays including family-friendly arts and crafts workshops plus rhyme time and toddler time sessions during term time plus autism friendly mornings too.
Children can also choose from a selection of books, listen to stories, play with puppets and create their own stories, create their own art, dress up as characters from the Walker’s paintings, pose on a throne, chill out in the mood room and explore sounds associated with colour.
And if they if they are really interested in art they can explore the rest of the gallery. If you get peckish there is a cafe with a children's menu and staff are happy to warm bottles and highchairs are available on request.
If you want to bring your own food, St John's Gardens opposite the Walker provides plenty of space for running around and a picnic.
