You can't beat a trip to the seaside and Sefton has a coastline that stretches 22 miles, so you're guaranteed to find a speck to set up a picnic while the kids play in the sand at Southport beach.
Why not stop off for some fish and chips or an ice cream before heading to the beach for a day of building sandcastles and sunbathing?
Southport Beach also has the country's second longest pier and amazing coastal views of see Blackpool, North Wales and (on a clear day) the southern Lake District.
The nearest train station is Southport that is just a short walk away from the beach and there is seasonal beach parking off Marine Drive for £4.50-£6.
