In the heart of the city, you'll find Liverpool Town Hall - home to the Lord Mayor of Liverpool.
This beautiful 18th century, Grade I listed building is referred to as "one of the finest surviving 18th century town halls".
With its high dome, topped by a statue of Minvera, Goddess of Wisdom, magnificent late Georgian decoration and sweeping staircases - it's an interesting and huge building to explore although probably best to keep the kids on a harness to stop them wandering.
There are monthly tours and annual open days plus special events including afternoon teas and this year Father Christmas will be taking residence for the Storytime with Santa event. (Scroll down for more information).
