Liverpool’s Central Library which was refurbished and reopened in 2013 and is a cool place for children to explore.

This a brilliant children’s section in a huge circular space in the former lecture hall under the Picton Library, with ramps for buggies and big comfy seats for snuggling up with your little one and a good book.

Children are allowed to take out up to 12 books and there are no fines for kids, plus board books are replaced on a regular basis so you don’t have to worry if your little one thinks the corners are the tastiest thing since carrot puree.

If books aren’t their bag, then there is also a game area with a free-to-use Xbox 360 and on the ground floor you’ll find a lovely coffee shop too.

While you're there make sure you take a trip to the roof terrace and you will be treated to some amazing views of the city.
