Overview

If you're looking for a unique family outing head to Birkenhead Priory and discover the history and beauty of the 850-year-old site.

There is so much for families to do here, The Priory is an ideal place for families to visit - small enough so you can't get lost but big enough to have a huge amount of fun exploring.

The children will love playing Hunt the Monk where you search the buildings to track down a trail of miniature monks plus they can also have a rummage through the dressing up box and choose from medieval, Civil War, World War I or Tudor style costumes - perfect for a selfie.

The kids can also explore the church yard and make rubbings of the ancient gravestones of past Priors buried on the site.

There is also a Bug House and Mini Museum plus digital trails which you can download to your tablet or smartphone.

And you have to climb St Mary's Tower before you leave for some of the best views of Liverpool's famous waterfront.
