Set right on the Wirral Way is Ashton Park in West Kirby, a beautiful little park which dates back to the Victorian and Edwardian times.
The Wirral Way divides the park into the upper and lower park with lots of things to see and do including the rose garden, and the lake which has a fountain and lots of wild birds, ducks and geese to feed - there is even a little hut which sells duck food.
If the kids want to let off some steam then there is a children's play area plus a multi-use games area and lots of beautiful gardens to explore, plus a grass junior football pitch, tennis courts and two bowling greens.
There are plenty of footpath trails leading to the Wirral Way from here - a 12-mile long walking and cycling route on the track of an old railway that goes from West Kirby to Hooton and offer superb views over the Dee Estuary to Wales.
